STARBASE 2.0 is an afterschool mentoring program sponsored by the West Virginia STARBASE Academy, a Department of Defense youth program hosted by the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston. The vision of STARBASE is to raise the interest and improve knowledge and skills of at-risk youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, providing for a highly skilled and educated American workforce.

STARBASE 2.0 combines STEM activities with a relationship-rich, school-based environment to provide the missing link for children making the transition from elementary to middle school. Small teams of middle school students will work after school with local STEM professional on a variety of hands-on activities
